Dr Rogers has had a diverse career in education and system leadership. Having qualified to teach at the University of Oxford, Dr Rogers taught for 12 years in secondary schools in England and New Zealand. While geography was the main subject, periods teaching special needs, sport and outdoor education were formative experiences. Through this period Dr Rogers developed his early leadership experience, being fast-tracked in to leadership roles. An interest in teacher training and research led to the next stage of his career as a Teaching and Educational Research Fellow at the University of Exeter. This included leading PGCE programmes and completing a Masters in Educational Research. Implementing the skills learnt through the Masters, Dr Rogers studied for a Doctorate, completing a PhD, researching schools’ relationships with local communities and international partnerships.
More recently Dr Rogers has been involved in coordinating and delivering school improvement and professional development through the Teaching School Council, as Director of the Plymouth Teaching School Alliance, and then Director of Professional Development for one of the England’s national multi-academy trusts.
Dr Rogers utilises this diverse career in the delivery of programmes that are research and evidence-informed, whilst being accessible for busy professionals and designed to develop learning and collaboration.
